Evidence of Women and their lives in the Berwick Archives

Berwick’s Archives are a rich source of information about the town from the 16th to 20th centuries. This talk will look at what evidence survives to give us an insight into women’s lives of all backgrounds which is often well hidden in the records.

Linda Bankier has been the Archivist at Berwick, the most northerly archive in England, for over 30 years. She is a Senior Archivist in the Northumberland Archives Service.

During her time at Berwick she has carried out research on various aspects of the history of Berwick and North Northumberland, including the role of women and their portrayal in the past.
